Physical Education: Edexcel

Curriculum Intent

  • All students will make strong progress in Physical Education.
  • Reading and oracy strategies will support the school’s wider strategies. 
  • Students will be given opportunities to play at high level.
  • Quality first teaching and assessment for learning will be exemplary and consistent across specialist and non-specialist teaching staff in the department 
  • All students (unless withdrawn by parents for medical grounds) will participate in PE.
  • Students will be given opportunities to have exposure to top class athletes and facilities
  • Students will have opportunities to participate in various extra curriculum activities.

Curriculum Implementation

  • Clear routines and expectations in place in all lessons for transitions, the presentation of work and DIRT work.
  • Teachers will ensure that students understand the place of each learning within sequences of learning.
  • All KS 4 lessons start with rote learning embed key terminology.
  • Homework will be used to consolidate and extend knowledge and skills, in the main focusing on revision, research, recall and reflection.
  • Students will be trained to select and use resources independently (BBBB).
  • Assessment books will be developed as key resources with standardised presentation
  • Assessment books/folders will be developed as key resources with standardised presentation and key terminology glossary
